Savudrija is a seaside resort in Croatia, near Umag. The subject is a moment of leisure for bathers at sunset on the small beach between the rocks and the stone piers where the boats dock. The structures built on the docks are made of rough logs and the suspended boats appear to float in the air. The boys use them as diving boards. glittering flashes of the sea surface. The painter engages with a theme dear to the Impressionists because it is linked to the effects of light and the surface of the water. Although strongly contrasted, the colors become softer and more sober.

Marco Ronga is an experienced painter, draftsman, and sculptor based in Italy whose works have been exhibited nationally and in England. He describes his works as fusing themes of the portrait and the human figure with suggestions of urban architecture and the landscape resuting in "portraits of places and landscapes of bodies". Ronga's painterly compositions are most often created with acrylics and oils on wood or canvas.
