Description

Daruma Loropetalum is a compact shrub with stunning burgundy foliage. Grown in zones 7-10, it reaches a size of 3-4 feet. Perfect for small gardens!

Daruma Loropetalum (Loropetalum chinense var. rubrum 'Daruma') is a dwarf evergreen shrub that is known for its dark ruby red foliage. It is a cultivar of the Chinese fringe flower (Loropetalum chinense).

Daruma Loropetalum grows to be 2-3 feet tall and 3-4 feet wide. It has glossy, dark red leaves that turn a deep burgundy to hunter green in the fall. The flowers are fringed, hot pink and bloom in spring.

Daruma Loropetalum is a relatively easy plant to grow. It prefers full sun to partial shade and moist, well-drained soil. It is drought-tolerant once established. The plant can be pruned after flowering to remove dead or diseased branches.

Daruma Loropetalum is a popular choice for landscaping and is often used as an accent plant, foundation plant, or even to use in a container. It is also a good choice for growing in USDA hardiness zones 7-10.

Here are some additional tips for growing Daruma Loropetalum:

  • Water the plant deeply and regularly, especially during the summer months.

Note: The plant is shipped in its pot, firmly secured with several layers of clear tape, thereby avoiding any shuffling and moving during transit. The plant reaches you with minimal damage- very safe and secure. We have been shipping plants like this for several years (plant are sometimes shipped in smaller pots for safety and ease of shipping). Most plants go dormant in fall and winter and will lose most of their leaves - looking dead and dry - very normal. They will flush out in spring.

We cannot send ship some plants and some sizes to California due to restrictions placed by department of agriculture.

Note
Please note that the plant will be shipped in its pot, securely fastened with multiple layers of clear tape to prevent any shifting or damage during transit. This ensures that the plant arrives to you with minimal damage, safely and securely. We have been employing this method for shipping plants for several years, occasionally using smaller pots for added safety and convenience during transit. It's important to understand that many plants enter a dormant state during the fall and winter months, resulting in the loss of most leaves and appearing dry or lifeless. This is a natural process, and come springtime, they will begin to regrow and thrive once again. Please be aware that due to regulations set by the Department of Agriculture, there are certain plants and sizes that we are unable to ship to California. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.
